After years of testing TrustedSite trustmarks on dozens of ecommerce sites, we’ve discovered the optimal placement for each trustmark to maximize conversions. Follow these best practices for placing the trustmarks throughout your site.

Floating trustmark

The floating trustmark allows you to immediately establish trust with visitors no matter which page they first arrive on. Use it on all pages in the bottom right or left corner. Make sure to give the trustmark enough space–don’t let it overlap with other services your site might also display in the bottom corners like help chatbots.

Certified Secure engagement trustmark

The Certifed Secure engagement trustmark addresses concerns about malware and phishing and should be used in your site’s footer. You may also have trust indicators from other sources like BBB to display in your footer, but be careful to avoid “trustmark clutter.” A good rule of thumb is to use no more than three trust indicators in this area.

Secure Form engagement trustmark

The Secure Form engagement trustmark addresses concerns about data protection and phishing and should be used on registration and email collection forms. This trustmark often looks best underneath the form’s call-to-action button.

Secure Checkout engagement trustmark

The Secure Checkout engagement trustmark addresses concerns about data protection and should be used on checkout pages and near credit card forms. If your checkout process contains multiple pages, make sure to include this trustmark at each step.

Secure Login engagement trustmark

The Secure Login engagement trustmark addresses concerns about data protection and phishing and should be used on login pages. This trustmark looks best underneath the login or sign in button on the form.

Issue-Free Orders engagement trustmark

The Issue-Free Orders engagement trustmark addresses concerns about business scams, customer satisfaction, and order fulfillment. It should be used on about pages, product pages, and in your site’s footer.

Spam-Free engagement trustmark

The Spam-Free engagement trustmark addresses concerns about email spam and data protection. Use it on your email collection forms underneath the call to action button.

Banner trustmark

The banner trustmark allows you to highlight multiple certifications you’ve earned in a single trustmark. Use it on shopping cart pages and checkout pages. This trustmark is useful when you have limited room on a page for multiple trustmarks, but still want visitors to see that you’re certified in multiple areas. The banner scales dynamically in width, so it can be particularly useful in responsive page layouts.

Testimonials trustmark

The testimonials trustmark lets you display your Issue-Free Orders rate along with positive words from your happy customers. Use it on the home page, in your site’s footer, or on shopping cart pages. The trustmark looks best with 5-7 testimonials from your customers enabled to display. This trustmark also scales dynamically in width, so it can be particularly useful in responsive page layouts.

Identity Protection trustmark

The Identity Protection trustmark lets you show customers they are protected in areas where your site asks for sensitive data. Use it on shopping cart pages and checkout pages. This trustmark works great when combined with the Secure Checkout engagement trustmark.

Other placement tips

Make sure to use the official trustmark codes. The code displays the trustmarks as SVG images, allowing them to resize according to screen resolution and preventing distortion when viewed on different devices.
